Aarcweld (Scotland) Ltd has awarded LTR Lifts and Escalators with
the prestigious contract of Reid’s brand new showroom in
East Kilbride.
Founded in 1970 by Sam Reid, the Reid Furniture Company is now
Scotland and Ireland’s largest manufacturer and one of the
country’s most successful retailers of upholstered furniture.
Reid is continually expanding and as such will be opening a new
furniture store in East Kilbride in August 2006.
Reid employed Aarcweld (Scotland) Ltd, a leading manufacturer
of mezzanine floors, to design and supply the internal structure
of the store. Aarcweld provided Reid with split-levelled mezzanine
flooring, which is an ideal solution for expanding the showroom
by utilising otherwise unused space.
Sales director at Aarcweld, Stuart Torrance, comments: "To
accompany the mezzanine floors, Reids requested that an escalator
and disabled platform lift were installed.
"For the project, Reid recommended LTR as they felt that
they were the most proactive company in their field.
"This is the first time that Reid will be incorporating an
escalator into one of their premises. In their existing showrooms
the separate levels are accessed by elaborate staircases. However,
market research conducted by Reid indicates that customers significantly
prefer escalators in stores as opposed to any other means of mobility.
"Due to the size of the showroom, a disabled platform lift
was required in order to comply with the latest disability legislation."
Stuart concludes: "We’ve established an excellent working
relationship with LTR very quickly. Throughout the project they
have been extremely attentive and thorough, moving things along
at the right speed. I’m confident we’ll work with them
again on many future projects."
