LTR Assists with Barnsley Civic Hall Transformation
Leicestershire based LTR Lifts and Escalators Ltd has been selected
to assist in the £11 million refurbishment project of Barnsley
Civic Hall.
Employed by Barnsley Council as the main contractors on the job, leading
refurbishment specialists, ISG InteriorExterior has awarded LTR, located
in Hinckley, with the prestigious contract.
The project, as part of an ongoing major regeneration of Barnsley town,
will see the Hall, which was originally built in the 1800s and has long
been the cornerstone of the town centre, completely transformed following
years of disuse.
The project is part of an ongoing Council strategy to provoke an urban
renaissance of the large Yorkshire town. It includes a conversion to
create three new floors to contain office and retail space, studio workspaces,
a design centre, and a new town hall assembly.
To enable easy passenger access throughout the extensive new area, LTR
is to supply and install four passenger lifts and a disabled platform.
Patrick Homer, Project Manager at ISG InteriorExterior comments: "With
a project of this magnitude, it is extremely important to work with people
that you can rely on. Having worked with LTR in the past, we knew that
Alan and the LTR team provide an extremely proficient and dedicated service"
Over a year into the construction side of the project, LTR is due to
begin work on the first of the four lifts shortly. It is estimated that
the entire refurbishment will be completed, and open to the public, by
the end of the year.
Alan Dunkley, the managing director of LTR comments: "It has been
a pleasure to work with ISG InteriorExterior on this and be able to contribute
towards such a major development for Barnsley town centre."
