LTR Perfect the Art of Lift Installation
Leicestershire based LTR Lifts have demonstrated their expertise by
devising an innovative and specialist solution as part of a new contract
with Wakefield Art House.
Initiated by The Art House a brand new £3million arts centre is
being built in Wakefield to incorporate art studio facilities, workshops
and living accommodation. The project, which will provide inclusive access
for artists with and without disabilities to work together, represents
a major milestone in the treatment of disability within the UK art sector,
with only four of the 166 art studios in the UK currently offering full
disabled access.
As part of this extensive project, the building is to include not only
a lift to enable access for passengers, but also a more specialist lift
tailored to carry and transport all types of artwork.
As the main contractors on the job, Ellmore Construction conducted some
research into the lift sector to find a suitable lift contractor for
this challenging job and proceeded to award LTR with the contract on
account of their industry expertise.
In a contract worth £65,000, LTR are to provide a basic eight
person passenger lift and an extra tall lift, to be an extra half a metre
in height and able to carry 17-persons, to accommodate paintings, sculptures
and various other large pieces of artwork.
Mike Nettleton, Project Manager at Ellmore Construction comments: "Due
to the specific requirements of this contract, it was important for us
to assign a highly professional lift provider. As such, having researched
the sector, we invited four different firms to tender for the contract
and then short-listed a final two. On account of the fact that LTR came
across as the most professional and had a better grasp of what was required,
we then awarded them with the contract."
Alan Dunkley, Managing Director at LTR comments: "We are delighted
with this new contract and look forward to assisting with this development
which is in aid of a very worthwhile cause."
The Wakefield Art House is scheduled to open in January 2008.
