LTR Fighting Fire With … Lifts

Things are hotting up for Leicester based LTR Lifts and Escalators, who have recently won a contract to install 3 lifts in a mixed use development in the centre of Birmingham.  The contract is with GB Building Solutions, a construction company who has specialist expertise in commercial and residential buildings.

The lifts are being installed in a development on Bromsgrove Street in Birmingham City Centre.  The block consists of 11 commercial units and 189 one and two bedroom apartments over six floors with underground parking.  LTR has been enlisted to design and install 3 lifts, two of which are firefighting lifts that run through the building from the basement to the seventh floor.

Firefighting lifts are specially designed to operate within the core of a building meaning that they can still be used, even in the event of a fire.

Andy Burley, Commercial Manager at GB Building Solutions says, “We used LTR to install the lifts because they had all the relevant processes in place and seemed to anticipate what we needed as a client”.

 The work is the latest in a series of projects LTR has been involved with in the city.  Recently the firm has completed installation and design work on some prestigious Birmingham landmarks including Aston Villa FC ground Villa Park and the Beatties store on Corporation Street.
